Mary Jo Fero and members of the Icon Guild of St. Francis enjoyed three days with Dmitri last month working on face studies and finishing icons; Dmitri Andreyev will be in Philadelphia with Susan Von Medicus working on finishing icons in case the students who attended last month did not get a chance to finish! The intensive begins October 26, 2017 and the information can be found in the previous post.
Vladislav and his talented assistant, Tatiana held a wonderful workshop in Kiev, Ukraine this past week. Beginning with a well attended lecture on Sunday in the Cathedral of St. Sophia then onto the Prosopon icon workshop on Monday; twenty nine people in attendance learned the techniques of our Master. Two nice interviews were held with Vladislav on live television and many people wanted photo opportunities and autographs. We can’t wait for Tatiana to return to share the photos and tell the stories of the first icon workshop of the Prosopon School in Kiev! We hope there are many more planned as it is a beautiful city to visit and pray in the many churches and especially in the Lavra Caves. Have your passports ready and start saving your pennies–we’ll keep you posted on future workshops.
We welcome Lucia DiRado to our icon guild! Lucia began with Archangel Michael and finished up to the application of bole; she will continue on with us at our next meeting Sunday, October 29, 2017 beginning at 2pm and ending when our eyes are tired or we run out of emulsion-which never happens! Tatiana brought beautiful treasures from her last trip back home, they were snapped up immediately but we’ve requested she return with more of the small icons which can be placed in your home or vehicle. We are working on The Resurrection and Mother Do Not Weep together–hopefully we can complete these icons soon and begin our next group project which will be announced next month. In the meantime, we continue work on our own and continue in the methods taught by our school.
Trish sent along a link for gold, gilding tools and other iconography products, they have a nice array, so visit www.goldenleafproducts.com
