Sharing Discoveries

06 Aug

For those who know me,  I am ever curious and inquisitive–always searching for interesting things to learn about!  This morning I discovered an interesting workshop–carving an icon from wood or stone.  Enchanting!  Though the deadline is coming up for registrations and the class size is limited to ten individuals–here is the link for you to see the amazing work by

Personally I would very much like to go to this workshop but September is right around the corner and I have much on my plate to prepare for our October workshop with Vladislav Andrejev!

More discoveries:

A very interesting website; my eyes began to bleed as I read through this very informative site.  Have a look when you have a few hours to spend, Vladislav is mentioned in this site with an article about the Prosopon Anniversary.  This site also carries ads for various icon related subjects, one in particular that caught my eye was a trip to Russia.  Today I go to the post office to get our passport forms.  I would very much like to visit this beautiful country, perhaps we can arrange a group tour for 2016?

Located in Lexington, Kentucky, Hexaemeron is a non-profit dedicated to the study of icons.  This is the site I found

They have links to the Orthodox Journal which I just subscribed to.

Our next guild meeting is fast approaching, August 30th, 2014 from 12-5pm.  At this meeting we will be planning our icon boardmaking workshop with our list of supplies in hand, we’ll plunge into this process with happy hearts!

I’m off to buy eggs …  for today I’m working on Raphael and Tobias.  I will finish this icon by tomorrow!
