Our Spiritual Journey

Living in today’s world filled with suffering and pain, one asks “what can I do to relieve this madness and perhaps make a difference in a positive way?”
The answer comes in the form of contemplative prayer;
Where negatives exist in peoples’ lives, our positive message invites them to conversion of heart. Our positive message may be rejected.  We continue to offer it as a gift, not as a tool to club others into submission.  Following the Gospel is not easy in a culture that does not support gospel values.  A faithful Christian finds this out very quickly!

I’ll pass along what Mother Teresa of Calcutta wrote on the wall of one of her homes:
“People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;  Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of being selfish and of having ulterior motives;  Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;  Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;  Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone may destroy overnight;  Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;  Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;  Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;  Give the world the best you have anyway…”

This sums up the reasons I sit down, light my candle, pray for Guidance and write an icon. With each line I paint, with each puddle of pigment I push around, I am praying–without ceasing.
