Icon Guild Meeting, Saturday, September 24, 2016

11:00am til 6:00pm this month we will meet in the home of Tom and Mick — please see email notice for directions.  Not on our mailing list?  Join us by clicking here: more_info@archangelmichaeliconguild.com  The Shrine of St. Anthony is hosting Friar Fest the same day as our guild meeting and space was limited so we moved the meeting to Tom and Mick’s home where all can spread out to continue working on Theotokos Tenderness or St. Francis.  Studies in highlights and clothing will be available or bring any icon you wish to work on.  If you have an icon from a previous workshop that needs to be oiled, bring it along, we have a bit of community Olipha to use.

 

Ninth Annual Multi-Cultural Festival at St. Matthew Orthodox Church  October 1 and 2, 2016

Ninth Annual Multi-Cultural Festival  held at St. Matthew’s Orthodox Church 7271 Eden Brook Drive, Columbia, MD  21046.  Archangel Michael Icon Guild has been invited to share a booth with Iconographer, Wayne Hajos.  Beginning at 11:00am until 8pm on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday October 2 11:00 til 6:30.  Drop by for a visit and to view icons in progress and completed works!  Please visit www.stmatthewoca.org for more information.  We will see you there!

 

Prosopon School of Iconology 6 Day workshop October 17–22, 2016

Join us for a wonderful week of beginning or continuing education in the study of iconography with Master Iconographers, Vladislav Andrejev and his son, Dmitri Andreyev!  Father and Son will be teaching the theology of the icon with practice of writing the icon of the Deisis.  Vladislav will teach the intermediate and advanced students who will write the Deisis and Dmitri will teach new and beginning students who will choose one of three sketches available of Theotokos, Emmanuel or St. Joseph (head and shoulders only).

Held at the Shrine of St. Anthony  12290 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, MD  21046  in the Conference Room of the Shrine daily from 9:00am til 5:00pm.  Students may stay until 8:00 pm if you wish to continue working without instruction from our Masters.

To register for this amazing workshop, you can download the registration form from our website found under the link titled “Workshop and Events” and if you are unable to attend, we invite you to drop in for a visit anytime during class hours (9-5).  We have a glorious time of praying in color and are counting down the days–join us!!

 

Pandola Learning Center in Baltimore, MD  Saturday, October 29, 2016

We have been invited by Rosalie Renyeri of the Pandola Learning Center in Baltimore, MD to demonstrate the beginning practice of writing the icon of Archangel Michael on paper. This is not an icon class or workshop, it is an introduction to the Prosopon School of Iconology method of writing Russian-Byzantine icons.  For more information, please visit Pandola’s website: www.pandola.baltimore.md.us and sign up to attend.  The Rev. Our icon guild meeting normally held at the Shrine of St. Anthony on Saturday, October 29 will be held at the Pandola Center instead.  All Archangel Michael Icon Guild members or interested students are requested to please RSVP to Mick (mickmichielibeasley@gmail.com) no later than Saturday, October 22, 2016 for a final headcount.  Yes, you may bring an icon you are working on!  The Pandola Center has a student body of approximately 200 students and we are excited to invite the Pandola students to a 6 day Prosopon School workshop TBA announced for 2017!
