Archangel Michael and the Apocalypse Icon

14 Feb

We are presented with a unique opportunity to develop a deeper understanding  and appreciation of Archangel Michael by writing the icon of Archangel Michael on his Red Horse for our upcoming Prosopon School of Iconology 6 day Icon Workshop with Master Iconographer and Founder of the school, Vladislav Andreyev.  Tatiana Gubenko will be assisting to Vladislav.

This icon is for intermediate and advanced students, beginning students will write Archangel Michael.  We will begin this icon on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 9:00 am and continue working til 5:00 pm daily until class ends on Saturday, April 28, 2018.  Students with non-refundable deposit of $475.00 will receive the image.  Board size is 15×20 and can be ordered through with or without braces though we prefer braces as it is a large icon!  Please reserve your space in this class by mailing your registration form and deposit before April 1. (See complete, downloadable form on this site under the link titled “Workshops and Events”)

Archangel Michael is a warrior, the right hand of God, the defender of truth and the protector against the wickedness and snares of the devil and its minions.  Mentioned only four times in Scripture, twice in Daniel (10:13 ff. and 12:1), where he is the special guardian of the chosen people of Israel, once in Jude (5:9) disputing with the devil over the body of Moses, and once in Revelation (12:7–9), where he defends the Mother of Christ and the Church by fighting against satan and his demons.  As we delve into this powerful icon, we examine the various aspects of spiritual warfare and gain a broader perspective of spiritual protection.  We will learn each aspect of this icon and what each component symbolizes thus furthering our education in the realm of the angelic.

Here is a link which will guide you through the hierarchy of angels if you are inclined to begin (or continue) your studies of angels.  In the meantime, prepare for this workshop by registering and ordering your board today.  See you in April, there is much more to come!
