About Us

We are a group of spiritual, creative beings practicing contemplative prayer through the ancient practice of iconography in the Russian-Byzantine method of icon writing as taught by Master Iconographer–Vladislav Andrejev, founder of the Prosopon School of Iconology.

During the March, 2014 workshop with Mr. Andrejev at the Shrine of St. Anthony in Ellicott City, Md. we requested permission to form an icon guild of Prosopon students.  We officially formed our guild on May 31, 2014 and under popular vote, named our group Archangel Michael Icon Guild.  Archangel Michael is the first icon new students learn to write in the Prosopon School, so we felt it appropriate to name it as such.

Six day icon workshops taught by Master Iconographer Vladislav Andrejev are held each year in Spring unless otherwise noted (see the link titled “Workshops and Events” on the home page) with a minimum of 15 students is required to hold the workshops with a maximum of 22–24 students.

Consistently attending Guild Meetings is one of the best ways to explore iconography–during the meetings one learns more about the practice of iconography and the opportunities available to you to consider if this is the “call” you’ve been waiting for!

We cordially invite anyone interested in contemplative prayer and agreeing to adopt the methods taught by Vladislav Andrejev–to join us each month for “Prayers through Pigment.”  Please see schedule under the link “Guild Meetings/Prayers and Practice.”  Guild meetings are not fee based–a goodwill offering is requested to help support the Shrine of St. Anthony.  Materials and supplies are market price.  Please call Mick (410) 303-2392 if you wish to become a member or would like more information about the guild.
